From a totally selfish point of view, I think these new Visa prohibitions (beast/rape/scat/spanking) may be good for the industry in the long term. Although in the short term it will certainly cause a lot of pain to people affected sites.
Its been pretty obvious that Visa and Mastercard are uncomfortable processing for online porn. Without going in to the reasons for that, their actions clearly demonstate it. There has been a gradual strangling of the industry (some of it good and some of it bad) and I think there's a good chance that it will continue. I also think that at some point they may cut us off completely.
So what are the prohibitions a good thing? Because I do not believe those sorts of sites will completely disappear; there is simply too much money to be made. Those sites will find and develop alternative payment methods because connoisseurs of those genres will still want the material and be generally unable to get it offline. The same thing is already happening with casinos. Unfortunately, since there tends to be antipathy between adult and casinos, the payment systems they develop tend not to be ideal for our needs.
In short, I hope that pain inflicted on a small part of our industry today will save the industry as a whole that pain later.
