The simple fact is when nutters go crazy, they buy anything. When Obama was elected you couldn't even find shitty guns.. (meaning assault rifles) even ammo was sold out for months.
AK47 is a good gun. AR's are better but if all you are looking at is profit then the AK gets you more bang for the buck. You can generally buy a decent mil surplus AK for $500-600 but $500-600 will just get you a shitty AR clone.
Even older SKS will sell good and you can buy them in the $350-450 range.
