Nothing was furnished, not even food or your cell. He ended up with completely furnished cell/apartment, and even owned several restaurants inside. Gave paid tours to American & European tourists. Who were mostly drug touristas.
It was said the best cocaine comes from Bolivia and the best cocaine in Bolivia comes from San Pedro Prison. He made a small fortune making it from paste. Whole families lived there with their prison husbands. Coke was smuggled out in the backpacks of children going to outside schools daily.
Great book with actual pictures. and later made into a movie directed by Brad Pitt starring Don Cheadle.
