Anyone ever been to Saudi Arabia? I have. Despite all the money there I would not go back if you paid me to.
These people are so fucked in the head it is amazing.
With all this money you would think they would have developed an infrastructure that would be up there with the best nations of the world. WRONG.
Go to any Saudi city and it looks like you just crossed over the border from California into Mexico.
The majority of houses are made out of cinder blocks ( I know there is a shortage of trees there) but have expensive cars in front and the insides of the house are filled with lavish furnishings. Like putting expensive leather seats in a rusted Yugo. Every other lot has an unfinished house sitting on it.
The cities have trash on every corner. Most Saudis don't take baths very often (even though 95% of the population lives right next to the ocean. You would think with all their money they would have better desalinazation plants). If you go to the malls in Saudi Arabia the most common kind of store besides pirated movie and software stores is oil and cologne stores. Since they don't bath often they cover the stink in musky oils that smell like camel sweat. If you go to the food court at the malls they have walled-off areas protected by guards with machine guns so that families can have a place for the wives and mothers to remove their veils to eat. If you drive into the desert you will see huge trash dumps right next to the road. These are not government sanctioned trash dumps, these are places that people hire foreign workers (usually Pakastani) to haul there trash away to. They don't care where the trash goes as long as it is out of their sight. The sand usually buries the trash within a year or two so they don't care. Not uncommon to be in the middle of the desert with no sign of humanity and find trash blowing around.
Sex with females out of wedlock is forbidden but sex with members of the same sex is not. If you go to the malls or restaurants it is VERY common to get hit on by a guy. They will come up to you and ask you "Me-you.. Same-same" and make the universal fucking gesture with one finger going into a circle on the other hand.
Allah forbid that a Saudi woman should fall in front of you and you catch her and keep her from bashing her brains on the ground. You are an unbeliever and have soiled the woman by touching her and can expect to get your ass chewed by her family. Went to the mall with some friends once and had a ninja lady (that's what we called the women wearing the hijab gown and veil) trip on the gown while going up the steps on a huge staircase and one of our guys caught her and prevented her from a nasty fall. We ended up getting yelled at and had to run out of there escorted by security because lots of other Arabs started yelling at us when word spread that an Amaerican had touched the woman.
I could go on and on about that shithole. While I was there I don't think I met one Saudi who liked us. They would smile when they took your money but you could tell they didn't like you. I even had some who would make me put money down on the counter. They would not take it directly from my hand even though I saw them take money from other Arabs with no problem. Had one guy put on plastic gloves to pick my money up.
Anyone who says we were protecting these people for any reason other than the oil is full of shit. These people don't know what freedom is so there is no way we could be protecting something that to them does not exist. They hate us and it is not going to change. I think the same thing is true of most countries over in that region, especially Iraq. I know it is hard to stand by and watch all the suffering that goes on in countries like Iraq, Liberia, Afghanistan, but we only have so many troops and we can't solve everyone problems. Fucked up world we live in, isn't it?
