Sounds like a decent plan, but as for no. 2 above... It might be difficult for an adult paysite webmaster or designer to use this as a 'bad thing' ..
Saying that people should be able to trade copyrighted material as is with the music, would be saying that it's ok for people to trade pics and videos found in the member areas of their paysites... and is ok to help yourself to a neat site design you want to use.
In these cases, businesses and individuals are/would be losing money from work that has been produced and made for sale.
Acacia isn't losing a cent from anything they have produced and made for sale because they produce nothing, nor do they sell anything.
You are 100% correct that this situation needs to be put out there and put out there fast... to as many people as can be reached. and the powers that be need to have it shoved in their faces so they will realize what is going on and do something to fix it.
But to try to destroy a useful law such as copyright law to stop some of these ridiculous patents might just make matters worse.
Don't get me wrong.. I think it's a bit stupid to have some 13 year old kid get served with a lawsuit because he downloaded a few songs, but this just falls back on the parents' need to educated themselves on what's going on with their kids net activities.
Another VERY important thing that needs to be done is to change the law to prevent the sale of patents.. These things were designed to protect an inventor and that which he/she invented. But once sold, this is no longer the case, and they then become nothing more than a device to make money.
