Court Jesters always had a job if they could keep their Kings laughing, as did their advisors, cooks, maids, whores, healers, etc.
And the royal cook has a much better chance of getting promoted than a peasant. (Probably had a higher chance of being beheaded or killed by rivals too though actually

If this place was all multi-millionaires talking only about industry stuff (which they wouldn't, because they wouldn't want to talk about their ideas)... it would be so boring I'd have to go get a job at McDonalds for some real entertainment.
