FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida ?Feb. 7, 2001 ? As reported by the Associated Press: ?The founder of the Miami Subs Grill restaurant chain and SunCruz gambling-cruise operation was shot and killed in his car, police said.
?Gus Boulis, 51, was driving on an isolated road Tuesday night when a car pulled in front of his and stopped, Fort Lauderdale police Detective Mike Reed said. Another car then pulled up alongside Boulis' car.
?One of the two men inside the second car fired at Boulis, and the two cars fled. Boulis, shot multiple times, managed to drive onto a busy street before crashing into a tree.
??The Greek-born Boulis, one of South Florida's richest and most powerful businessmen, started SunCruz in 1994 and made it into the state's largest casino ship business.
?He was forced to sell the company last year and pay a $500,000 fine because he owned it without being a U.S. citizen, which is illegal??
