Lotto ticketholders have branded the game the 'National Robbery' after punters who matched five numbers in the latest draw won less money than those who got three.

Camelot said more than 4,000 ticketholders achieved the feat, winning £15 each, compared to 7,879 with four numbers who won £51, while the 114,232 people who matched just three balls won £25.

All the winning balls bar one in last night's draw were multiples of seven - suggesting that the 'lucky number seven' sequence is a popular one and that had the final number been 28 instead of 41 there may well have been thousands of Lotto jackpot winners

I can imagine people checking their tickets last night, matching the numbers and assuming they had just won a huge sum of money.

I stopped playing a couple of years ago. It's a joke how it's run by Camelot. Nobody should buy a ticket until it's given to someone else to run. Richard Branson should have been given it when he attempted to take over it a few years ago...
