I'd have to agree on the point that using correct spelling on your web pages does create a more professional appearance, spelling mistakes make the author look bad in my opinion.
Having said that, if you insist on correcting people's spelling on a webmaster board, you'll be in for a lot of work, Rorschach. You haven't really given very useful advice either; far too general.
