When I was growing up, people always claimed microdots were mescaline but actually microdots are simply lsd laced compressed sugar pills. There is no way to put the necessary dosage of mesc into that small a pill.
LSD-25 is the real deal. There are similar compounds but with variances in the molecule that render sometimes bad side effects - prompting the "laced with rat poison" urban legend ; although those might be called "lsd" or "acid" or whatever, they are not truly LSD at all. An example is AMT, alpha-methyltryptamine. Real LSD-25 is what Owsley was famous for making and Hoffman discovered and is remarkably free of any sort of toxicity. Erowid.org has great info on the subject.
Glad to see the resurgence in scholarship on psilocybin and LSD.
