That could be true... OR she might have been very familiar with the horse, and started taking it for granted that she would not get kicked. Sometimes horses can act fine for a long time, and you get too relaxed with taking the correct precautions, and then, suddenly, WHAM! I have seen it happen to experienced riders before.
