That's the thing, it
is loading the stylesheets. I know you're discounting pingdom but it actually shows the files that are downloaded:
Website speed test including 500meg of stylesheets.
There are many different ways to optimize, this seems like the biggest opportunity imo. I've shared it - it's your choice whether you incorporate it or not
