I've been around here since 2007, but lost my nick / email address so I re-regged.
It's been a pleasure to be here and I've learned a lot about business, time management, writing in different styles and finally, how to keep at something feasible until it works.
This is post 1000.
I've been a writer for 9 years, starting in 2007. Blog posts, reviews, descriptions etc.
I need to personally thank Wargames. Steve of Vas Media Group. I don't know where the hell he is these days. If I was able to keep working for him, I would. He was my longest writing client I took on back in 2010. I had worked for him for 3 years. As you know, he runs Top Porn and all those other review sites.
He knew I had my own site before, but I focused my attention mainly on his projects for those years. Once work ran out and sales started sucking (big google updates), I never was able to get a hold of him, so I did what I needed to do to persist. I launched my own spin of a review site and a webcam site. I definitely hate to create more competition for him, but this is what I know how to do and I thought in my own way I could do it to help continue to provide for my family.
He even gave me pointers on where I should look for work next. Heck once he gave me a bonus to help pay for my dog's vet bill. I never begged for anything but he was always willing to help on his own initiative.
Anyways, the reason I thank him was for the great run we've had together writing for his sites. I wasn't the only writer on his projects, fyi.
He helped me get through some tough stuff back in 2011-12 when my family and I were going through a transition. In exchange, I worked a full time job and used my free time to work on his projects to earn the money I made.
That led to a successful downsize, my wife (of 8 years plus highschool) getting a great job and us saving for a house we could be proud of. During the process, the wife lost a ton of weight and we were able to have a baby, which is due in a few months!
Sitting here thinking about my years at GFY is surreal. I'm no big player, I'm just doing what I can to get a few extra bucks and enjoy myself in the process. But it's really cool to see that a simple website has connected me to some of the best people and companies that brought me through the subsequent steps that led me to this very moment.
Thank you GFY, thank you Steve, thank you to all the clients I've had that I cannot list because there were many of you.
If anyone knows where I can get a hold of him, please tell me or direct him to this message. I am willing to give back to him if he needs a favor free of charge.
To the rest of you, I look forward to getting to know you all and hopefully growing my websites into a sizable operation to further benefit my new family and home life.
Take care and thanks once again.
