That policy was a total disaster. You can't steal property from productive people and give it to unproductive people. What happens is, the assets don't get utilised property and their value collapses and in the case of farmland this means low production which means starvation in extreme cases as happened in Zimbabwe. In this case, the assets were ONLY valuable in the hands of the white farmers.
But sadly in the western world, with bank bailouts there is some degree of the same policy being repeated in a way.
