Actually, in my pretty extensive experience, compared to the rest of the world, the US is MUCH less jealous and disapproving of people who enjoy success. In Europe, many people tend to think that someone driving a flashy car is an asshole, in the US people just tend to think that it's cool. We tend to approve of consumerism here.
