Yea, but he could have refused to sign the waiver to halt the interrogation. He didn't have to sign that waiver. Which leads me to suspect that the FBI dangled a carrot in front of him to convince him to sign the waiver...like a fake promise to not arrest him or some other silly thing, which he fell for.
