They love to blame us. Ignoring the real truth that the only reason for the Wars in the ME, is the people now fighting in the ME. Whatever the West has done, has had no real effect other than propaganda.
The region has been fighting among itself for 1,000s of years over the control of land. Read the bible for how it glories genocide. Before then there were other Empires looking to impose their rule on any land that couldn't fight back.
Recent History we have the Ottoman Empire. Muslim Turks imposing a very strict regime on the entire area.
The recent wars in the Balkans is a direct result of the Ottomans invading the region and imposing Islam on the region.
After WW1 the break up of the region still brought problems over land. War lords and tribes were unable to sit around a table and decide on a referendum to cede lands to local people. The Kurds are still fighting for their own land. As are others.
The invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq didn't cause the terrorism. Prior to that the US had teamed up Israel and Egypt to supply the Afghan Jihadists with the weapons to fight and throw out the Russians. without those weapons Al Qaeda would have never been created.
Afterwards Islamist blamed the US for not doing more. And decided the whole thing was the fault of the people who helped them. So carried out many mass killings,

Iraq had invaded Kuwait and Iran, gassed and bombed it's own people. Long before the invasion by the US. Afghanistan and Iraq had decent leaders for the areas imposed on them. The people rather than getting around a table or having an election, picked up guns and started killing.
Not even poverty can be blamed. Weapons aren't cheap and many rich Muslims are funding the wars by buying arms to kill Muslims rather than buying food, building hospitals, schools, roads, etc.
Second Generation Muslims in the West are becoming Terrorists, many are from well off families and well educated. And rather than go to live in a Muslim country, they decide to impose their values on us. sometimes using terror.
Islam and the ME is where we Europeans were a 1,000 or more years ago. It took King Alfred to form a loose knit Kingdom. The last Civil war in Britain was the Jacobite rising of 1715. 300 years ago, because one lot of War Lords decided they would be better off if they were in charge and convinced the people to go to war.
Today we do it through the ballot box. Maybe in 300 years Islam might start to think this is a better process.
