Are you dating material?
Only a select few industries are guaranteed to never wane. The love/dating niche is one of them, among the most Recession-proof niches online. TIME magazine once estimated that there were 1,000 marriage and dating sites in the U.S., and reported that the industry snagged sales of $649 million in 2006. That was nearly a decade ago—as the Internet is far more commercially available (and thus used more frequently), these numbers are now in the 10-figure range
Take a peek at a few small startup dating sites. PlentyOfFish.com was started by a guy in his bedroom. That site now pulls in millions of dollars, despite its terrible domain (note: they eventually upgraded to POF.com once money started rolling in). OKCupid.com is another example of a startup dating site that took off, making its creators loads of cash despite a horrid domain. Many blogs exist too, covering every known aspect of dating.
These sites didn’t thrive on the “strength” of their horrid domains. Luck with major news syndicates, resulting in a boatload of advertising, got them to where they are. To stand out from the hordes of small-scale dating websites, you’ll need a domain with serious power… that or countless thousands of dollars to shell out on advertising. If you don’t have/want to spend six figures positioning your website in front of the pack, then a solid domain is what you need.
It’s possible that the dating sites mentioned above used bad domains simply because the owners (at the time of launch) couldn’t afford a decent dating domain. Taking sales figures, courtesy of the domain sales reporting website NameBio, it seems this notion is highly likely. What is the price of a good dating domain? Lots. Numerous $1,000 sales litter the landscape, yet they are lower-quality entities. But the likes of SwingerDate.com secured $2,049 last summer while DateMyDaughter.com wrapped up a $2,400 sale three years earlier. Even AnalDate.com somehow sold for $2,869.
And then there are the pricier ones: gaydating.com $75,196 | videodating.com $50,000 | freedatingservice.com $20,000 | blinddating.com $14,000 | datingsecrets.com $25,000 | singlesdating.com $16,722 | millionairedating.com $15,000 | casualdating.com $30,000 | datingwomen.com $12,000 | dateidea.com $20,028 | findadate.com $31,000 | mydreamdate.com $11,770 | datefinder.com $19,000 | dater.com $15,000
Yeah, it’s safe to say they couldn’t afford it.
The domain DatingMaterial.com had been in private hands for over a decade. But it’s nearly 2016, and I want to clean out my portfolio. So I’m offering DatingMaterial.com to the public. Unlike the vast majority of dating domains, DatingMaterial.com is a solid, fluent phrase, used commonly in English. plentyoffish.com could never say that.
In fact, I’ll give the winner of this auction a dating script (view it by visiting the domain). It was just recently added to the domain, thus no traffic should be assumed. The website scripts offer users free and/or paid dating profiles. It requires PHP (newest version would be best) and one MySQL database, plus the ability to use .htaccess/mod_rewrite. I can set up the script on the winner’ server for free—just ask.
In a realistic sense, this domain belongs up there with those 5-figure sales. Yet here it is, listed for $1.The reserve? There is none. You could theoretically win this with a single, one-dollar bid. The winner of this auction will get the following:
The domain DatingMaterial.com (registered at GoDaddy, expires in mid/late 2016)
The professionally designed logo
The dating script found @
iFdate v.2.0
Hosting isn’t included with this auction, although I can get you cheap/reliable hosting for cheap. Ask for details.

Photography is an easy hobby to enter: grab a camera, find something to immortalize in a still image, and snap a picture. It’s an increasingly expanding niche. Amateur photography is even more so. Some of these photos are of butterflies and cute, fluffy animals; others are of the nude/pornographic variety. It’s easy to snap pics of everyday things outside of your window or if you want to unleash your inner porn star, a removal of clothing and a camera are all it takes
But if you want to make a name for yourself in the photography world, you’ll need the right web address. You need to personalize/brand your website and email addresses. This issue befalls many a promising photographer. Even if you merely want a website for amateur photographers to post their wares, it’d be a difficult mountain to climb with a bad domain.
The obvious solution: get a good domain. Yet this is easier said than done: photography domains don’t come cheap. According to the domain sales reporting website NameBio, AmateurPics.com sold for $15,155 while AmateurPictures.com snagged $12,000. Even the lower-quality ones secured four-figures sales (FreeAmateurPics.com $2,500 AmateurAlbum.com $3,002 AmateurModeling.com $2,488).
As 2015 is coming to an end, I decided to clear out my portfolio, to make room for 2016. That said, I’m offering this domain to the public. Like all my auctions, this one has no reserve, meaning you could theoretically win this auction with a single bid. Whether you want to showcase your portfolio or create an adult/porn website, MyAmateurPics.com could be your best investment. And that investment just might be $1.

Orgies.net

It’s an aged, category-killing domain. It tore up Yahoo! And it’s looking for a new home.
I shelled out a lot of money for the domain orgies.net and since had it developed. Due to server issues, the site was taken down. And why not develop it? An extremely rare asset in the lucrative adult niche, orgies.net is a solid adult domain. That’s a challenge to find: A category-killing, adult .com or .net being on sale for under $5,000. orgies.net is even better, as it’s an aged domain. Yet here I am, listing this for the world to peruse. And I’m listing it at only one dollar with no reserve.
Before I go into specifics, let me answer the obvious question most people reading this will ask (“If it’s such a great domain, why are you selling it?”): Simply putt: my server messed up, and the site had to be taken down. My patience for it is very little. So instead of re-launching the site, I’m opting to sell the domain.
orgies.net is a category-killer .net. With some work, they can dominate search engines/directories, making organic traffic easy to obtain. Age is a huge factor too: Not only do search engines favor older domains, aged domains give the feeling of establishment to visitors. People would feel less reserved and far more likely to trust a website on an old domain opposed to one using a newer domain. 17 years will do that for you. A domain’s age and category-killing nature form a symbiosis unmatched by white-hat SEO. Using very little effort, I was able to get this domain/website on top of Yahoo! for its keyword (orgies). Here were SERPs stats from the Yahoo! world on April 26 2015 (all for the keyword ‘orgies’):
uk.yahoo.com -- #3 ca.yahoo.com -- #5 mx.yahoo.com -- #10 cl.yahoo.com -- #1 ar.yahoo.com -- #1 co.yahoo.com -- #1 pe.yahoo.com -- #1 gr.yahoo.com -- #2 th.yahoo.com -- #2 vn.yahoo.com -- #2 dk.yahoo.com -- #4 fi.yahoo.com -- #4 hk.yahoo.com -- #4 no.yahoo.com -- #5 sg.yahoo.com -- #5 ph.yahoo.com -- #6 es.yahoo.com -- #8 br.yahoo.com -- #8 tw.yahoo.com -- #10 ru.yahoo.com -- #15 se.yahoo.com -- #20 malaysia.yahoo.com -- #22 nl.yahoo.com -- #22 qc.yahoo.com -- #52
Most of these are from foreign territories. This was posted here to illustrate what I’ve mentioned above: an aged category killer ranks extremely well. Comparatively, there is a noticeable lack of Google stats. Google takes longer to rank well in. (The above took about one month to achieve. Seriously.)
Some may call me crazy for listing this without a reserve. And rightfully so: Not only is there no reserve, the starting bid is a mere $1. Theoretically, you could obtain this domain with a one-dollar bid. That’s not all: this auction comes with an assortment of goodies. The winner of this auction will receive:
The domain orgies.net (registered at
www.GoDaddy.com Created in July 1998, expires July 2016)
Over 3,000 high-quality adult images in numerous niches (lesbian, gay, couples, softcore etc), for marketing/advertising the site
A dating/hookup website I had on meet.orgies.net (You can view the scripts at
http://datingmaterial.com)
A file-sharing/torrent link checker: add this to your site and you’ll receive many repeat visitors. This quick and easy search engine will help searchers check for “dead links” from RapidShare, MegaShare & more
Facebook Like/Share script: To build easy social-media traffic, this viral Facebook script allows you to popup and overlay a box on any page with a message asking your visitors to share your website on Facebook by clicking the “like” button. Otherwise the visitor will have to wait 15 seconds before they can continue on the site. You get to set the wait time when you install this script.

1 1/2 years’ free web hosting at

(As the site had been down awhile, I’m pretty sure traffic had dwindled a bit. I’m selling this assuming no traffic)
A domain of this caliber being on sale for under $10,000 rarely exists. I’m listing this entire auction with no reserve. Again, you could potentially win this domain and all of the above with a $1 bid. Don’t let this deal pass you by--once this auction ends, a category-killing, Yahoo-slaying, aged adult .net with no reserve might never see auction ever again.
