It depends on the candidate. G.W. Bush did pretty well with Hispanic voters, but he speaks fluent Spanish and he had a history of hiring Hispanics for high level positions when he was Texas Governor and then president. If they can get a candidate who has a history of inclusion it could work for them.
Any political pivot isn't easy, but voters' memories are short and things change. A lot of it also has to do with the opposition's candidates and how good or bad they are doing.
