Comedy has changed over time, and I'm not taking anything away from Carson, or even Paar. But if you go back and watch some of their clips, it's like watching an open mike session at an old folk's home. Cheesy funny, but not hilarious.
of course comedy has changed over time. but late night is about moments and Carson's tally of moments hasn't been surpassed.

to wit, certainly one of the most hilarious and incredible moments on television ever:



not saying fallon won't ever surpass Carson, he may, but he has a long career ahead of him to try and do that.
