I have to agree, cams are where its at.
As for your ideas... I think the biggest obstacles to what people have always wanted from camsites (bandwidth/computing power, user capacity, video resolution/FPS) have been pretty much overcome. Users are generally happy. And the beauty in it, is its simplicity. It delivers exactly what people are looking for, while never needing to be overly-complicated.
However, being a visionary and having ideas for improvement is where great innovation can come from. But for the innovation to exist, you generally have to create it yourself. Envision it, make it work, put it on a website, and hope people will come and appreciate what you've done. If you're lucky, you'll have raised the bar to a point where no one will want the old way anymore.
