Most people don't pay any attention to their operating system.
It's like cyclists. They pay attention to every single ounce of weight on their bike and strive for ultimate efficiency, yet couldn't tell you anything about the transmission in their car. Most people who work with computers are completely unaware of the differences between operating systems so long as their computers work.
