Two Factor Authentication is a very successful way to defeat hacking. It's not water proof but it's very difficult to get around.

What other methods have you been thinking about?

Especially related to Domain Name accounts and Online Banking?

For instance, with online banking these days you can get one time passwords and virtual keyboards which perform a very successful functionality that is more secure than typing login credentials into your computer keyboard because it defeats key logging.
