Because the first time I remember seeing the ability to use a credit card with Paypal was a few years back.
Matter of fact, here is the date that it started:
"In 2007, PayPal announced a partnership with MasterCard that led to the development and launch of the PayPal Secure Card service, a software that allows customers to make payments on websites that do not accept PayPal directly by generating a unique, single-use MasterCard number for each checkout."
I'm pretty sure that was the year that Paypal issued me my mastercard too.
