To my understanding (I could have misinterprited my lawyer and I'm hella tired so bear with me) -- If someone files a patent in the US, they have 1 year to file in Canada to be automatically approved, otherwise they have to go through regular channels to get a patent here and from what I know, they're not issuing any patents on streaming media in Canada.
