You misunderstood what I meant. I was saying that for a long time we had an idea that civilization started at a certain point in history (meaning using tools, building cities, language, etc.)
Before that people were very primitive as they evolved.
But over the last few decades that viewpoint has started to change as archaeologists now believe that civilizations may have been around a lot earlier (maybe even 20,000 years earlier than originally thought).
So what I was saying is that people were more "advanced" comparatively to what we used to think they were at earlier dates.
I wasn't saying that they were more advanced than we are now of course.
EDIT: And no, I didn't mean that the Easter Island statues are that old. They are only a few hundred years old, I was just commenting in general on archeological finds and analysis.
