The Sheriff's Office learned during interviews Jason Niedermeyer's father allegedly was also involved in the shooting and reportedly fired the first rounds.

Both the accused shooters eventually had weapon malfunctions and transitioned to different rifles. Both thought the person they were shooting was a patrol deputy.
Authorities also found a large marijuana grow and arrested Maria Niedermeyer. However, the Sheriff's Office noted she was not charged in relation to the shooting.
Two other adults, Jason Niedermeyer's wife and a family friend, were also at the residence, but were not charged.
