That's because everyone just wants to troll everyone else. I'd say in real life most people don't go out of their way to be racist, but a lot of times it just happens. It's human nature to prefer your own kind, it comes from our tribal/clan roots. You can see this in a non racial way just by looking at the existence of countries.
For what reason would a boarder ever need to exist if it wasn't for people wanting to claim they were diffrent than the people on the other side. It's of course about power/control as well, but that also holds true with racism.
Everyone is racist no matter how hard they try not to be. It's just the way it is. However some try harder to be racist than others..
