If you've never been to lake meade before, it's really worth checking out. A few years ago I was visiting friends in Las Vegas and we went to the Hoover Damn first (Amazing!), and then later that day we went boating and swimming in the lake. The thing that hit me the most were the crazy high red cliffs. I felt like I was swimming on mars.
