Dumbasses who run etc are pretty unlikely to be on a board full of self-employed people (and brassmonkey) though, so this is more a place to look at who is really at fault - the police are the 'grown ups' in cases like this, or are at least meant to be, and the criminals are the dumbfuck 5 year old kids who literally don't know any better.
It's one thing to smack a 5 year old kid in the mouth who starts waving a knife at you and there's a real chance of injury, it's another to do the same thing because they mouthed off, or squared up to you as if they were any threat whatsoever, or doing it out of instant revenge-gratification because your feelings were hurt because you lost face in a job you know isn't going to be sweetness and light 100% of the time.
If you look at the criminals as being the 5 year old kids, and the old bill as the parents, you can see the insanity of excusing - maybe brushing over is a better phrase - the police behaviour/over-reactions a hell of a lot of the time. Obviously there's never totality one way or the other, and as much as I loathe the old bill most criminals deserve what they get, but fuck, it's obvious a huge number are out of control hormone driven power trippers that have zero business being in the 'to serve and protect' game at all.
And just to pre-empt any replies from anyone saying 'yeah but 99% of them (ha!) are decent', that has nothing to do with the ones that aren't. 99% of people aren't criminals, that doesn't mean we should just take it on the chin that some people are murderers, rapists, dealers, armed robbers, etc. Problem is we can differentiate good people/bad people easy as pie mentally, but for some reason it *has* to be all cops are pieces of shit (I'm guilty of that most of the time) one one side, and the other side jumping to the defence of the good ones, but the bad ones get a free pass as being in the collective of 'policemen' instead of either a shitty person or a good person.
And that's why this shit will go on forever and a day
