I'm not sure it's so much that Affleck and Kevin had a falling out. I read an interview with Kevin where he goes on and on about how Jennifer Garner doesn't like him, so she sort of "forbids" Ben from hanging out with Kevin. Smith said she views him as sort of Ben's "friend from high school who never grew up" and is too immature.
