I always thought the same thing! But I swear, St. Louis did NOT impress me. Everything looked like shit. The "nice" part of downtown seemed very small. There seemed to be "projects" everywhere.
We stayed at this place a couple blocks from the courthouse. The check-in guy gave us instructions: you can turn left, but do NOT turn right if you don't want trouble. Haha. Our hotel had bars on the windows.
