Mir trained with a boxing coach to prep for the fight. Gloves used in MMA are 4 - 6 ounces (compared to 12 - 16 ounces in boxing). MMA gloves provide less protection over the knuckle bones. Makes it easier if an MMA fighter connects w/ an opponent's jaw, to knock out an opponent.
