I seldom get into this type of discussion, but here goes. I've been in 3somes, with another guy as well as with another girl. And while it's great, physically, emotionally it's awful. If your relationship with your girlfriend is good, I'd advise against it, because it really can seriously screw things up. There is a good chance of losing her...not right away, but eventually. It's hard enough communicating with just one person, the moment you add another into the mix it becomes exponentially more complicated.
If you do get into it, be prepared for lots of tears and misery, feelings of rejection, inadequacy, confusion, etc. I'm not saying that it will end badly, but based on my own experiences and thiose of others, there's a big chance that things go sour.
