I bought small amounts of some of the above, like .TV At the time this was a new thing, a few alternatives to .com. Hence the "Tulip " mania. Now it's different, you have a lot more selection, you can make a more leisurely decision about what to acquire, but not if you want to be in on the ground level.
I still think some of the new TLD's are worth investing in, for long term. Not all will be successful, you have to play the percentages , as with anything else.
You mentioned Gay.xxx, there is only 1 name like that, they are grandfathered into the upcoming new extensions like.sex .adult .porn. Obviously they are not hurting for money if they parked it. Perhaps in a few years, the 500K they spent on it, will seem like a gift.
If you don't pull the trigger , you will never know.
