Anyway, they didn't forward the transfer auth. and my domain then expired.
I started transferring domains out in September as they expire. The first domain I moved out expired 7 days before I put in the transfer request. I was told at that time I had a 30 day window to manage my domains and the system allowed me to unlock and make the transfer. However, the supervisor I spoke with today told me that the window fluctuates between 5 and 10 days and that "30 days to manage" really means 30 days to renew....Which of course I will not be doing with them.
I've been trying to call since last Thursday because of this. Today I finally got a rep on the phone and after 26 minutes, she caved in and transferred me to a supervisor.
Shortly after that call, he credited me $8.99 so I could renew the domain and complete the transfer. However, even though I just received an email from them telling me the domain was renewed and even though it's showing renewed in their system, I'm still getting this message:
"The domain is in the so called "Expire auction" phase. The modify for this domain has been deactivated. The domain can be reactivated by renewing."
I remember the nightmares many of us dealt with when enom went to shit 10 years ago. This issue with Moniker is even worse. At least enom processed the transfers quickly and never lost a single domain of mine.
So that's my (current) issue but the problems have been many and ongoing for a few years now. As you can see from some of the other comments, I'm clearly not alone.

I'm guessing privacy probably has to be turned off to transfer. I've read about people not getting auth codes when privacy was on. their new system seems to be very slow in updating so perhaps could take 24 hours before a domain shows as renewed in the control panel. i tried to get them to allow me to transfer after a couple of domains expired but they wouldn't budge, i eventually gave up and renewed them but i won't be making that mistake again and make sure to keep an eye on whats expiring so i can be sure to transfer them out though its probably a better idea to just get everything out of there asap.
they are a piece of crap for sure and seem to be full of holes as people are having more and more valuable domains stolen from them. i've wasted hours and hours with their bullshit, waiting on hold, etc. i've never had problems with any registrar like i did with moniker since their 'upgrade'. submit a complaint to icann, maybe they'll lose their accreditation if enough people complain.
