what are your clips like? are they long, are they HD, do they have any special qualities?
if they are run of the mill and short, you might think you'd be giving too much away to get tube traffic. But if they have a lot of substance, and good qualities, you can effectively promote them on tubes without hurting your brand. You can generate brand recognition and new customers. You can cut custom clips the exclude specific parts of the content, shorter versions and make sure the surfers know they are not the full version. you can offer them only at a certain quality and make sure the surfers know you have HD or higher resolutions for members.
Most good content partnership programs will let you ad a nice intro to your vids explaining this, showing what members get that the surfers don't get for free and most will allow you to have a channel on their tube showcasing your brand and what you have to offer.
Check out paidperview.com, there is a lot of flexibility like mentioned and you will also earn a good cut off all the advertising revenue made from the views your videos get.
certainly promoting on a tube is not for everyone and not for all content. But there are definitely benefits that have come from them as well, weather or not other people want to admit it. For example, with these sites that do 10 to 20 million unique visitors a day. A couple really awesome videos can instantly create a massive amount of brand recognition for a new product.
