YES! This.. In today's high tech world I just don't see the need to have a computer, laptop, tablet, and smartphone. Nope I like and use all but the first one. While IMO a tablet could never be a desktop/laptop replacement for real webmasters, I don't think PCs are needed anymore with the high powered laptops out there.
You say a laptop with a external monitor, keyboard, and mouse is just a desktop? Hell no! When was the last time you could take your "desktop" out by the pool or on vacation as a carry on? A fast laptop can do 90% of what a PC can do unless you are a gamer and even then they make $4k laptops that can do that too.
Since the smartphones and tablets came along I use my laptop 80% less as a mobile device but I'd still never leave home without a laptop if I was going away for the weekend or a real vacation.
