I agree with you on GD's security. I only use GD now to get .99 cent or $1.99 domain names and move them to NameSilo if I want to keep the domain name when it's about to expire.

Hmm.. I was with the fly during the whole debacle and luckily didn't lose any domains. Rest assured I had some primo ones too dating back to the mid and late 90s.. some were nearing expiry which had me on edge quite a bit, managed to get hold of an eNom rep who transferred them over. So I'm guessing yours either expired on ya or was Mallicked by the shonky owners and their 6k chihuahua or whatever it was..
