not everyone is vapid, or cupid or likeable. there's the rub, someone can be genuine nice and pleasant etc, but still unlikeable for whatever reason(s)
i lol when it's sold as dye your hair green or wear funny socks or listen to shitty music and people will like you. It's actually a mixed message hiding superficiality and consumerism behind a veil of contrived non-conformity
that's the level of sincerity and individualism in the expression.
