Now I'll say this. That doesn't excuse him. He made a mistake that could have killed someone. He should deffinitly be fired. But prison time seems like it's a bit to far.

It was a mistake. Cops deal with a lot if shit. You have to assume people will pull guns on you. Especially in the US.
My friend is a police officer he tells me stories. He's been Shot beore.
