That's the point, it's not always an "excuse" as you seem to want to convince people it is. It is often simply a fact, the smoke does indeed physically bother a lot of people. There are asthmatics who are particularly bothered physically by it.

Look I get it, you're a smoker that feels pushed around and bullied by all the non-smokers. So you're likely speaking from the perspective of situations that you've encountered. But in my view you're wrong. Not entirely, but at least in good part. I can think of tons of situations where non-smokers are basically forced to walk through clouds of smoke, such as when entering or exiting a public place (Like a hospital for example) where smokers are outside puffing away.
Fact is of the two sides, it is the smokers side that holds all the ill effects to health, thus I fully agree with those saying it is the smokers who need to change at least some of their ways.

I have no idea what that means.

Don't know what you're talking about, I'm a riot to be around. I bet Tam is too, when she's not in Rude Bitch mode. :D But if someone wants to smoke they are free to step outside and puff to their hearts' content. (although I'm not all that crazy about finding butts in my flower beds or walkways either, just asking for a little basic consideration)

I disagree in this case. If the behavior in question was ONLY harmful to the person doing it and no one else I might agree, but since that's not the case with smoking the point doesn't wash. And the laws that have come into being over the past 15 years say the facts are with me.

heck, this happened to me here at the beach in another sort of situation, a surf buddy said if I start up my generator, he's gonna have to load his gear and go park somewhere else, I said pack your shit then, there's 3 miles of parking. And have a nice day there.

By "start up my generator" you're meaning light up a smoke? Sorry, you lost me a bit. But if so I'm with you on that particular incident. Open air at the beach, sorry, unless they institute a "smoking allowed here" part of the beach in that instance you have a right to smoke, and he has a right to move somewhere else.
Really man, we don't need to debate the whole "right to smoke wherever the fuck I feel like it" argument here. All I'm saying is that a lot of people are bothered by cig smoke, particularly ex-smokers. It's a fact, no 'excuse' about it. My own mother was a smoker in her younger days yet for the past 40+ years she gets physically sick and dizzy if subjected to it.
And many of them do get up and walk away from it, thus "altering their behavior", but in some cases some bitching and complaining is warranted. You have to know yourself that there are a lot of inconsiderate smokers out there. I've known tons of those in my day.
