I've never smoked, and in my younger days I worked in bars (back the days when smoking was allowed), was at umpteen zillion house parties where you could cut the smoke with a knife, none of which bothered me. But in my older years, like as I passed 40 or thereabouts, I slowly became less and less tolerant of it. Now I too really can't stand to be around those puffing clouds of smoke.
Sorry to those who take issue with this but the smell frankly does bother people and not for no reason, particularly ex-smokers, at least in my experience.

The issue is the people that use that as an excuse are 1) expecting others to alter their behavior to suit them, 2) looking to external locust for what it takes to quit and 3) very not fun to be around.
If something bothers someone or interferes with their agenda, then THEY need to change environments, not the people engaging in their chosen behavior.
heck, this happened to me here at the beach in another sort of situation, a surf buddy said if I start up my generator, he's gonna have to load his gear and go park somewhere else, I said pack your shit then, there's 3 miles of parking. And have a nice day there.
