Its a lot more complicated than that.
Depending on whose figures you believe, because of higher welfare spending Scotland is actually a drain on the UK budget.
However the idea that Cameron will resign is unrealistic. Scotland leaving the Union means a vastly increased parliamentary majority for the Tories. It completely re-draws the political map for Westminster elections, and probably means a Tory government for the next 20 years.
It is a no lose situation for Cameron, increased political power in the remaining Union, and they can blame the Blair government for the split because it was devolution which opened up this opportunity for the Scottish Nationalists in the first place. Or should the Scots vote to stay in the Union he will take the credit.
