I find myself growing more and more frustrated with how little I get out of the house. I recently went 3 weeks with only going as far as mailbox and grocery store next door. Then, I concluded that all the guys were out on their ATVs & SideBySides all summer heh. No wonder they weren't at the man-cave at all this summer haha. That won't be a problem next summer tho.. hoping to pick up a working project wheeler this weekend for the wife and I to get out together next summer after her recovery and get muddy haha
First, best wishes for her recovery;

Second, that is it exactly. When you don't have dough you get slapped down a lot. You get a pavlovian reaction to dreaming and impulses. "That will probably fail" or "I shouldn't waste the money" etc. With the dough in the picture, you can do things right and impulses become risk free and attainable. To OPs point, risk is less welcome at older ages, as far as I can see. Less happy-go-lucky, that leads to less ability to attach quickly, which leads to less social opportunity, which leads to duller but safer life.
