And to answer the original post Jesus most definitely thought of himself as the son of God. There are many passages in the Christian bible where he or others assert he is the son of God and in the instances where others declare him as the Messiah Jesus does not protest.

Here's one example:

Matthew 26:63a-64b

The high priest said to him, ?I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God."

Jesus replied ?What you have said is true.?
