In any normal business a minimum 2 week wait is standard. You ask for less time you are taking a big chance. Yes this should appy even for ONE BUTTON. Most good people are usually busy with other customers.

On the other hand, I've had pleny customers that I have given net 30 to, and for some reason or another they flake out, sometimes after you started work on the project. The deposit just makes sure they intend to see the project through the end and that they in fact have money to pay for the project. The 50% down is pretty standard stuff for most contracting jobs in any industry.

I do offer net 15 or 30 to repeat clients after we establish a good relationship, most clients offer to pay upfront anyway because they understand what it means to contract and that it sucks to wait for payment for a project that, depending on size, could take up to a month to complete. When this is your bread and butter, believe me waiting a month can really hurt your pocketbook.
