I hAve diabetic retinopathy and have had the laser treatment.
I am not sure which procedure you are saying is not approved but both laser techniques I am aware of for treating my situation are. scatter laser and coagulation.
You'll want to seek out the best retinopathist in your area and get a full diagnosis of your situation and the doc will advise the best course of action.
The laser treatments worked for me. If you have retinopathy you will want to address it sooner rather than later.
