We actually found that you can't unite the industry.

I actually remember initially starting some of the dialogue in 2005/2006. We saw the writing on the wall and the coming trend.

It is what it is now. Too late to go back. The laws are in favor of the sites that enjoy the safe harbor provisions and some of the other protections of the DMCA. If the government re-writes the DMCA it will change the playing field over night.

EDIT: From what I can remember the whole thing fell apart because no one wanted to put up any money to fund any of the operations that the movement was going to generate. Failure to commit.
