Also anyone with decent algebra skills can easily calculate the mass of the moon using basic information. On Jul 19 1969 Apollo 11 orbited the moon for 2 hours at 1737 km from the lunar center.
When the orbiter was in orbit, it balances the gravity of the moon against its outward centrifugal force. This is why it didn't fall into the moon, and why things like satellites stay in orbit.
Knowing this information you can calculate the total mass of the moon. The solution and exactly how to do it can be found here :
